Pasta is widely popular in the United States with retail sales totaling 1.57 billion U.S. dollars (2015).1 Plus, the average person in North America eats about 15-1/2 pounds of pasta per year.2
Why is this important? Every plate of pasta typically comes with a sauce. This month we are highlighting an integrator who worked with a manufacturer/distributor of spaghetti sauce and cooking sauces.
Our integrator wanted a conveyor system to handle incoming pallets of bulk PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) plastic containers and glass jars.
Due to breakability, every pallet load (consisting of jars separated by cardboard layers, stretch wrap and banding materials) required manual de-palletization.

The system allowed accumulation along a worker platform where the jars were removed from the pallets by operators.
To facilitate the process, Alba provided conveyors with tread plates, platforms and handrails.
To reduce field installation time, the conveyors were pre-wired with photo-eyes, motor disconnects and junction boxes at Alba. Like all Alba conveyors, these four conveyor systems were set up and tested for functionality before being shipped to the end user.
Another unique feature – conveyor side skirts. These skirts were provided to minimize the build-up of fallen glass or debris under the conveyor systems.
