In Limbo?

Like the Limbo, it’s all about "How low can you go?"

One of our largest systems integrators came to us with a challenge. What’s the best way to rotate a 10,000 lbs. load, 90 degrees in 8 seconds, on an assembly line, with easy access?

The end user assembles 17 ft x 6 ft x 7 ft roof top units for restaurants and businesses. The main production line consists of CDLR (Chain Driven Live Roller) Conveyors. Another important requirement – engineering a solution to enable assemblers to walk between the two conveyors to work on the top, front and back sides of the unit.

Our solution? A low profile heavy-duty turntable with a 16 inch top of roller elevation.

Conveyor Specifications:
•	Model 29760-6
•	19” Effective Width and 24” Effective Width
•	Rollers – 2 9/16” Roller Diameter, 7 Gauge with 11/16” Hex Shafts
•	1 HP Baldor Motors
•	Dodge Tigear II Shaft Mounted Gear Boxes (side mounted drives required for clearance)
•	30 FPM
•	#60 Chain
•	6” Roller Centers

Turntable Specifications:
•	Over 21 ft Long Unit
•	18 ft Long Chain Driven Live Roller Conveyors (same specifications as above)
•	2 HP Inverter Duty Brake Motor for Turntable Rotation
•	Massive RC 120 Drive Chain
•	2 ft Diameter Slew Bearing with Additional Cam Followers for Support
•	3/4” Thick Main Rotation Plate
•	Two (2) Floor Mounted Structures with Cam Followers to Support CDLR Conveyors when Rotating 90 Degrees

Frozen!

Frozen! A systems integrator/partner network member contacted Alba with a unique application. The requirement – create a pallet transfer and drag chain conveyor system operating in a minus 10°F environment to use in conjunction with a robot palletizing cell. The conveyed product: a four-way, 40" x 48" GMA (Grocery Manufacturer Association) Pallet with a 2,200 lbs. maximum weight per pallet.

The system consisted of eight chain driven live roller (CDLR) conveyors with through-frame type (TFT) transfers.
