Don’t Get Railroaded by Inferior Conveyor |
Built Like a Freight Train — Engineered for Strength, Priced for Practicality |

A valued Alba partner, NSH USA Corporation, reached out with a need for an over/under powered roller conveyor system to provide parts going in and out of a repair cell at two levels. NSH USA manufactures specialized and multifunction machine tools and automation systems for railway, automotive, aerospace, and other industrial manufacturers worldwide.
Founded in 1910 and based in Albany, New York, NSH USA is a member of the NSH Group (NILES-SIMMONS-HEGENSCHEIDT), an international leader in machine tool technology. See NSH USA in Action. |

NSH USA is in the process of manufacturing and testing two automated railway wheel set production facilities in North America that include Alba conveyors to transport parts needed for the repair. NSH USA partnered with Alba on this system due to the construction, design and robustness of these conveyors. These facilities, also known as "wheel shops", are where freight and transit railways send their worn-wheel sets for maintenance.

These conveyors needed to handle 48” wide leading x 48” long 4-way reverse GMA style pallets with the bottom boards oriented parallel to rollers (i.e. hard way).
Pallets weighed a maximum of 2,000 lb each.

The SIMMONS brand machines in these wheel shops inspect and process wheel set components like the wheels, axles, and bearings. Anything that is damaged or worn beyond repair is scrapped. Other SIMMONS machines perform the machining and processing for the reclaiming process, including mounting new wheels and bearings on reclaimed axles. These components are transported throughout the shop at each step of the process before the wheel set assembly is returned to service.

Alba over/under conveyor plays an important part in safely and efficiently moving these wheel set components to the machine cell where they need to be repaired and then moved out of the cell for shipment to the customer.
The over/under conveyor system supports efficient movement into and out of the repair cell while reducing the overall footprint required for inbound and outbound conveyance on the plant floor.
